Men’s Club June Update

The small-but-mighty mantra JCSC Men’s Club carried throughout this past year was never more evident than on May 22 during our annual spring clean up.

Those of you who have spent time on our fabulous patio have noticed an unsightly piece of concrete lingering off the north end. Our best plan to remove this remnant and continue to lead the synagogue beautification effort consisted of burying the concrete. Led by Jordan “I can dig it” Richman and Les Agius, we prepped the hole, set up to move the concrete and six of us very nearly willed this one-ton chunk out of site.

We tried. We will continue trying. We will always try. Such is the way of the JCSC Men’s Club; no matter what the numbers or the task at hand, we do what we can. And that effort led to some significant achievements this past year. Here are some of the highlights:

Organizing and cleaning all the closets, which eliminated a lot of stuff we no longer have to climb over, found a lot of supplies we lost and made life at the synagogue much better.

Raised enough funds through our charitable activities to purchase a sound system for the synagogue and make a substantial donation to the purchase of the Hollander house.

Support our school by providing gift certificates to each of our students at graduation.

Accomplishments such as these do not happen without great individual efforts, and the Men’s Club was fortunate to have so many. I can’t imagine what we would have achieved without relentless giving from Charlie Buchbauer and Larry Anker. Additionally, Les Agius, Rob Richman, Robert Castellucci, Fred Seplow, Fred Bonis, Greg Perlmutter, Vladimir Meskin, Mark Hoffman, Ken Lowenstein, Seth Levine, Richard Gaynor and Stephen Warburton-Pitt continued to be the lifeblood of the JCSC Men’s Club.

We are not done, yet. Don’t forget the annual Men’s Club summer pool party at Greg Perlmutter’s house. We will be publicizing the dates sometime during the next few weeks.

And we are already planning for another big year. In addition to finishing the library this summer, we hope to clean out the basement and the attic next year as well as begin a regular social event building off of our Texas Hold ‘Em tournament that should also be a substantive fund-raiser as well.Again, these achievements will not occur without significant participation. I look forward to participation from all our members in the coming year as we try to contribute more and more to the Jewish Center.

As always, for Mary, Brittany and Sam, I wish you Shalom.

Richard Gaynor

Arthur and Edith Middleton founded Middleton & Company in 1937.  In its early years, Middleton & Company was a small, successful insurance agency, serving Northern NJ and local bordering states of PA and NY.  In 1969 Eli Gaynor joined the agency.  With hard work and dedication, he began the transformation of Middleton & Company into a progressive, growth oriented agency serving the tri-state area.  Upon the retirement of Arthur and Edith Middleton in 1975, Eli assumed the Presidency of the agency and further expanded its boundaries in growth and scope through specialization.

In 1979 Richard Gaynor joined the Agency, creating and marketing a variety of specialized Industry insurance programs designed to meet the specific insurance exposures of each industry.  In 1995, Richard assumed the Presidency of Middleton & Company, continuing the commitment to you, our customers, by providing unmatched and un-compromised industry specific insurance programs.  As a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Richard has committed the entire Middleton & Company staff to unparalleled customer satisfaction through continued insurance education, industry specific knowledge and courteous professional attention.

As Middleton & Company expanded, adding insurance specialists to its staff, the growing company needed larger quarters, and in 1989 the Agency built its present location allowing greater space for efficiency and expansion, to increase customer service and satisfaction.  With our aggressive commitment to customer satisfaction, service and expansion, Middleton & Company has grown to be a full service “One Source Financial Solutions Provider,” departmentalized to handle all your insurance needs:  Business Insurance Department; Personal Insurance Department; Life, Group Health, Benefits and Investments Department; and Mortgage Loan Department.
